![]() ![]() I realize redlining my machine is not the best thing for it, and I don't plan on using it like that all the time, but still, it would be nice to have the option.I’m here again having the same problem with fan control. The ideal scenario would be to find a way to enable the cooling fans to run at full capacity on demand. I downloaded the Dell power management program and selected the "cool" option, and although it runs the fans when I would like it too, it limits the CPU to roughly 3 GHz instead of the 4 GHz it's capable of. Needless to say, the clock speeds are much slower at the "failsafe" profile. End result being that Throttlestop automatically bounces back and forth between my "performance" and my "failsafe" profile when the temps get too high. This means while stress testing on my "performance" profile, the clock on the CPU would max out at ~4 GHz as desired, so that I know I'm using as much of the processor potential as possible, except it would get very hot. I also noticed that the internal fan wasn't kicking in even when it got up to around 85 degrees. It's been partially successful, but I noticed that when running stress tests, the CPU temp gets up to >90 degrees, sometimes even up to 100. I know there are issues with thermal throttling, and so I've been trying to undervolt using ThrottleStop. It's running a Core i7-8550U and as it stands it's a huge upgrade over what I had before. I recently bought a refurb XPS 13 as in the title, and I have been tinkering with undervolting and generally trying to get the most out of the CPU.
